YOU DON'T JUST BELONG IN HAMILTON

YOU ARE HAMILTON

ABOUT

A quarter of Hamiltonians are immigrants and about 10% have come to Hamilton in the last five years (2016 census). Eventhough the city recognizes the value of immigration and aspires to be a welcoming and inclusive city, newcomers settling into Hamilton still face discrimination and exclusion and don't always feel welcome. Misleading myths and stereotypes about immigrants and refugees contribute to this divide.

With the message 'You don't just belong in Hamilton, You are Hamilton', #HamiltonForAll aims at addressing these misconceptions and stereotypes, drawing attention to our similarities instead of our differences. The campaign encourages Hamiltonians to connect with and welcome newcomers. It stimulates conversations among residents, paving the way to creating connections and inspiring inclusivity through simple actions that ranges from sharing welcoming messages on social media to other grassroots community initatives to support newcomers. See below how you can get involved.
